Which waffle maker do you own; would you recommend it?

I bought one at Kohl's on black friday. I was really excited...but it will not crisp up the waffles at all. I am going to take it back...but now I have my heart set on a nice waffle maker. I ultimately want the KitchenAid one that makes 2 waffles at the same time...but it is so expensive. So, I am definitely keeping my options open. Which one do you own..and do you recommend it?

It wasn't a pre-made mix that I used. It was a recipe I have used before in a different waffle maker that turned out the most beautiful waffles. But, it did have both eggs and milk in it.

Before you take that waffle maker back, examine your batter recipe. Is it a prepackaged type? Nothing wrong with that, but you will find that if it calls for milk and or eggs, try leaving one or both out and substituting water. It is much less fattening and tends to produce a much crispier waffle. Don't forget to add oil to the batter. Also, it's all about moisture content when cooking a waffle. The trick is to cook it long enough to just get the surface crispy while the interior is still moist. I watch the steam. When there is little to no steam, its done. Good Luck
